Maintains up-to-date files of reports; assists in maintaining a cross index files; initiates manual pathology charges in the computer system; maintains consult files; sends and maintains records of tissue specimens, blocks, and/or slides to reference facilities. Keep a transit log for blocks and slides that are sent out and when they are returned. Reconcile invoices from reference laboratories. Practices telephone courtesy, and acts as a receptionist for all persons coming into the Pathology Department.
High school diploma or equivalent. Business/secretarial skills. Knowledgeable in Excel, Power Point and Word. 1 year recent secretarial/office assistant experience. Medical office of hospital experience required.
