Job Description

Assists in the examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of the Physician and/or Clinician. Responsible for various clinical and clerical duties. Coordinates clinic patient work flow.

Minimum Job Requirements

CPR: Healthcare Provider

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Medical Assistant certification required.

Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or CNA required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Answers telephones, routes calls, takes, and relays accurate phone messages.

Assists with procedures, provides, and documents patient & family education.

Maintains clean and orderly patient exam rooms and work area. Transports patients as needed.

Prepares, administers, and documents immunizations and other IM, SQ, PO and nebulized medications to patients under the order and supervision of the Physician.

Communicates all significant changes in patient conditions or behavior to clinicians.

Gathers data for general information or special reports, contacting employees, contacts departments or agencies & individuals for additional material.

Maintains all equipment in proper working condition/order. When equipment is not functioning, take proper actions.

Performs and documents vital signs and intake data (i.e., temperature, B/P, Resp., etc.) and measurements (i.e., height, weight, etc.).

Prepares for patient visits by organizing records, consents, and informs physician & other clinical staff of changes in schedule.

Ensures all medical record/patient electronic health record contains necessary documentation for medical appointments.

Completed charting in the electronic health record, collects, and distributes medical record documents to clinic staff related to patient.

Schedules appointments, diagnostic and/or therapeutic, verifies appointments, obtains and/or verify authorizations under the supervision of the Physician.

Process medical documentation for office visit and follow-up with patient.

Assist with transcribing letters, memoranda, medical examination, clinical referral case summaries, initial workups, consent forms, laboratory reports, or research summaries.


High School education or equivalent preferred.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Basic computer and math skills.

Excellent patient management and customer service skills.

Interpersonal skills.
